Storage earns its place by disappearing. The cabinets and sideboards here are built with solid carcasses and soft-close hardware, so they stay square and quiet after a few thousand openings, and the shelving is depth-rated to hold books rather than bowing under them. Sizing matters more than styling at this end of a room: measure the alcove before the aesthetic. Open shelving is for the things you want to see, closed doors for everything else — most rooms want both, in roughly that order.
