Lighting is what makes the rest of the room work after dark, and one bright ceiling fitting is rarely the answer. The range is built for layering — a floor lamp to read by, table lamps to lift the corners, and pendants to define where people gather. Shades are linen, paper and glass rather than plastic, so the light stays warm instead of turning clinical. Aim for three sources in any room you spend evenings in, and put as many as possible on a dimmer.
